I find it hard to believe I’m about to embark on my second post season shooting one of the best college baseball teams in the country. This time last year my life was a whirlwind of crazy. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
This year I’ve settled in.
The road to Omaha runs through Columbia yet again, and Lord willing I’ll have the opportunity to step foot in TD Ameritrade Park once more. This will be no easy task however. I do hope Carolina is ready to prove to the country that a 3Peat is indeed possible.
Generally speaking I’ve stayed rather quiet on how I feel about what has gone on with our team throughout the season. (At least in regard to what I put out there in the social media world.) My support will never wavier. That doesn’t mean the fan in me doesn’t get frustrated though. One thing that still seems to be missing, to me at least, is that catalyst that lights a fire under everyone’s ass out on the field. That leader. We all know who filled that roll for that last 2 years and I feel like that is something that has been sorely missed this year. Yes, we have been successful. Could there have been more success. Of course.
You have moments where you wish so-and-so was still here or so-and-so would have done this or that. It happens when you have to replace so many amazing players off of a Back To Back National Championship team. As every Carolina fan knows those teams were something special. Those moments and players are unforgettable.
This 2012 Carolina team has the opportunity to make its mark. The Veteran guys know what’s ahead of them. The rest are no doubt eager to get to a place they’ve never been before. So can it happen again? I certainly hope so.
**I was compelled to write this after going back and reading Gamecock Glory. (I have yet to read Gamecock Encore.) I wanted to get into a good mindset going into the weekend. Anything is possible, and the last 2 year certainly proved it. And so ends my 4 am ramble.
